AML address check

Check an address

AML risk levels

Low risk

The address received a low AML risk assessment. New incoming transfers may change that assessment; checking again helps account for those changes.

PocketBank will process the payment without blocking it.

Medium risk

The address warrants closer attention. We recommend checking it after new incoming transfers and before your next exchange to keep the assessment up to date.

PocketBank will process the payment without blocking it.

High risk

Contact support before transferring. Information and documents about the source of funds will be required to review the transaction under the AML/KYC policy.

PocketBank will block the payment.

When to check an address

An unfamiliar address
For a new counterparty, check the sender’s or recipient’s address. Transfers to high-risk addresses may also affect the AML assessment of your own address.
An exchange withdrawal
An exchange may send funds from an address other than your deposit address. Ask its support team to confirm the actual withdrawal address.
Before an exchange
Before sending to an exchange or exchange service, review its source-of-funds rules and AML restrictions.

AML check questions

  • Who performs the check and receives payment?

Checks are performed by the separate third-party service WhiteAML. PocketBank provides an interface to its solution and does not perform the analysis. Before creating a check, you review and accept the provider’s terms and privacy policy. WhiteAML is responsible for performing the check and processing data in its service. Payment is made using its invoice; PocketBank does not charge a separate screening fee.
  • Do I need to register?

No. You do not need a PocketBank account to run an AML check.
  • How can I return to my check and result?

Open the check in this browser’s history or find it using its unique ID. The result is also sent to the email provided when creating the check. Save the check link: local history may not be retained in private browsing or after clearing browser data.
  • How often should I check an address?

If you only receive transfers from well-known international exchanges, a monthly check can serve as a routine review. Check again before a significant transfer or if an exchange changes its sending address. For transfers from unfamiliar people or with an unknown source of funds, we recommend a check before every transfer.
  • Does low risk mean the recipient is trustworthy?

No. AML screening assesses an address’s risk, not the honesty of its owner. Confirm the recipient’s identity and payment details separately before sending funds.
  • Does this assessment apply to other exchanges and exchange services?

The result can serve as a preliminary risk assessment before using other platforms. However, each exchange or exchange service applies its own risk model, data sources and funds acceptance rules. The same address may receive a different assessment. Confirm the receiving service’s requirements before sending.
