The Japanese automaker Nissan has announced its plans to use blockchain technology in its future business. The company has filed applications for four new trademarks related to Web3 with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Nissan plans to conduct a pilot sales program in the metaverse with Decentraland, a virtual environment for buying, selling, and building on virtual land. The program will offer tickets, cars, clothing, hats, toys, and trading cards. Additionally, an NFT marketplace will be launched for the purchase and sale of items from other brands, including Nismo, Nissan, and Infiniti.

Nissan also plans to launch a platform for viewing images and online videos, listening to audio and music, and a website providing information on the company's NFT and their operation. Moreover, Nissan intends to create a digital wallet.

The pilot program will be launched at the end of this year, and last week, Nissan Japan announced the launch of the Nissan Hype Lab virtual store, available to users from March 8 to June 30, 2023.
