Argentinian low-cost carrier Flybondi has announced the expansion of its partnership with TravelX, a company that specializes in selling non-fungible token (NFT) tickets, now offering all their tickets as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain.

The project, called Ticket 3.0, represents a continuation of the collaboration with TravelX, which began in September 2022. Thanks to the NFT ticket sales technology on the Algorand blockchain, passengers can independently change their name, transfer, or sell their "NFTickets."

Flybondi claims that NFT tickets allow passengers to enjoy a more flexible travel experience by purchasing tickets in advance without the need to pre-determine travel plans or participants. The airline anticipates a reduction in customer service costs and an increase in revenue from trade fees.

Facundo Martin Dias, TravelX's Blockchain Director, told CoinDesk that the company does not charge a fee when users initially purchase a ticket, but it receives a 2% commission from secondary market transactions. Airlines also receive a 2% cut.

NFT ticket purchase is available through the Flybondi website using fiat currency. TravelX issues an NFT ticket synchronized with the regular electronic ticket. Travelers can register on the Ticket 3.0 system to manage and store their NFT tickets. The rules and conditions associated with the tickets are integrated by the airline into the NFT smart contract.

Flybondi CEO Mauricio Sana said in a press release, "With this launch, we aim to have a positive impact on the aviation industry through innovation and the application of blockchain technology. Changing the rules of the game is never easy, but we know that our goal is to evolve and offer our passengers a new stage of flight freedom."

This is not the first experience of airlines collaborating with TravelX to provide their customers with a blockchain-supported experience. In April 2022, TravelX and Air Europa teamed up to release the world's first NFT airline ticket series called "Art as a Destination." The first NFT airline ticket auction raised over $1 million.

Thus, Flybondi continues to develop and improve its services, applying innovative technologies to facilitate the travels of its passengers and make them more flexible, convenient, and controllable for customers.
